Hypnotherapy

Hypnotherapy is a versatile and powerful therapy which can often take fewer sessions than other therapies to achieve the results you want.

A properly trained hypnotherapist will have been taught a variety of different therapeutic techniques, rather than specializing in one type of therapy alone. Many psychological principles and methods will be used by good hypnotherapists. This means that the therapist can switch to a different technique if progress is slowing down, so that success is more likely to be achieved.

Many of these methods can be used without a hypnotic trance as well, although it may then work more slowly, and a good therapist will know when to use trance and when not to.

The trance state itself can have an extremely relaxing effect, which is why it is particularly effective in treating conditions where stress plays a part. Being in trance can also make it more bearable to confront difficult issues.

Hypnotherapy can be a very effective intervention in a number of conditions and can help to cope with, or change, difficult feelings or emotional problems.

An ethically aware hypnotherapist does not offer a guaranteed cure any more than a doctor would do, but treatment can help with many aspects of your problem. Indeed the treatment may alleviate the problem altogether.

I will not offer alternative treatment, but a complementary one. In some cases, where appropriate, I shall ask you to go to your GP for a diagnosis before carrying out any treatment, where your symptoms could be indicative of an underlying physical disorder such as with some headaches.

In some cases I will ask you to get your doctor’s permission to treat you.

Here you can find a list of conditions and emotional problems that can be treated using hypnotherapy.
