About Me
I matriculated from a College in Iceland before coming to the University of Leeds where I did a BA in Psychology/Sociology.
After working for a few years, I was offered a 1 year scholarship by The Swedish Institute to do study and research into gerontology under the guidance of Professor Jan Helander at The University of Lund in Sweden.
In 1982 I qualified as a Social Worker (CQSW) at the University of Leeds.
During the following years I attended a number of courses in Counselling, Bereavement Counselling and Life Coaching.
Finally, I started training in Hypnotherapy in 2002 because I felt that social work was becoming more target based and less people centred. I also felt that my previous professional experience could be better applied in Hypnotherapy.
I did my training with the London College of Clinical Hypnosis (LCCH), whose training is accredited by, amongst others, Thames Valley University, the University of Greenwich and the Royal College of Nursing.
I received my Diploma in 2004 and my Practitioner’s Diploma in 2008. The Practitioner’s Diploma is designed to teach more advanced techniques to qualified and practising hypnotherapists. It includes training in working with various trauma and abuse patients.
I am a Full Member of the British Society of Clinical Hypnosis (BSCH), a professional body which governs the Code of Practice and Ethics of its members.
Membership is open only to those who have acquired the requisite Professional and Clinical training in hypnotherapy.
I continue my professional development by undergoing clinical supervision and meet up with fellow professionals in the field to discuss current issues in hypnotherapy.
